India, Textile print workshop / 2

Following my first post on Jai Texart Print workshop, here's what we made!
First we choose some wooden blocks... hard choice...

Then we try to make a drawing, or at least to think how we are going to combine the designs.

The scarves are put in mordant and dried. Then we pin them tight on the large tables.

Hemant Sethia, the boss, shows us how to work corners...

Concentration...

...And strength in the wrists!

...Et force dans les poignets!

Let's start...

On y va!...

Quite proud of my scarf! Could have done that several days in a row!!

Assez fière de mon écharpe! J'aurais pu faire ça des jours durant!!

People who chose red must cook their scarf in an alizarin bath to reveal the red.

Our scarves drying after being thoroughly washed. Explanations and so many steps, not all explained here took all day! We are exhausted, but so happy! Fantastic experience!!

India, textile print workshop

Just back from India, I was so lucky to take part in a one day print workshop in Bagru, at Jai Texart., near Jaipur. Here are a few pictures of the business. Here, a bunch of scarves they just dried, waiting to be sorted.

Scarves and saris are printed on very long tables.

It's absolutely fascinating to watch how the workers are so precise, and how they hit the wood blocks...

Soon I'll show you what we made!

Some time ago, I wrote a post about the Passacaglia quilt. Has anyone started one yet?
I came across the Passacaglia quilt hashtag on Instagram! Pretty impressive!
Look here at how Ashley cuts her fabrics to obtain secondary designs. I guess I'll go on admiring the whole adventure from far. I think I don't have enough years left in my life for such a crazy project! But congratulations, Ladies, it's beautiful!
